ACHIEVEMENTS
Representative Willie Mae Allen is appointed to the Joint Committee on Elder Affairs, Joint Committee on Election Laws and the Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development. She serves on the board of Directors for the Massachusetts Women Legislative Caucus and is the treasurer for the Massachusetts Black Legislative Caucus.
As a first term legislator, Willie Mae Allen has been instrumental in passing legislation relative to creating an exemption for low income seniors from proposition two and one half and funding for the following programs: Exodus Outreach Recovery Program, Health Education and Learning Program for Black Males (H.E.L.P), Substance Abuse, Prison Mental Health, William Trotter Institute, Alternative Voucher Program, Birth Defect Monitoring, METCO, Homeowners Options for Massachusetts Elders, Youth Violence Prevention, GLBT Domestic Violence Services and Citizenship for New Americans are few of her accomplishments.
Members of the legislature often refer to her as an “experienced” new member of the House.
